Wandesford Quay Wellness Centre
Wandesford Quay Wellness Centre is a historical malting house that served the Beamish and Crawford Brewery. It is located on one of Cork Cities primary Quays. is a space that promotes social, physical, mental and educational wellness. It includes a cafe kiosk, courtyard gardens, workshop/event space, yoga studio, meditation room, thermal baths relaxation rooms and treatment rooms. The concept is to allow architecture to provide healing of past traumas.
The conceptualisation process began with looking at the building as a mechanical system. From there, numerous abstract elements were brought to life and formed different elements to the building. This came from the mechanical hoist that is still in the Wandesford Quay Building to this day and was used back when it was a malting house
